Summary

Of the institutions that posted links, two have provided cost-transfer policies and three provide more informal language that essentially serve as procedures. The primary elements that are included in these documents include: the reason for concern (or the purpose of the policy), a definition of a cost transfer, references to who initiates and authorizes a cost-transfer request, what makes a request timely, what kind of documentation is needed, and references to what costs are allowable (or unallowable).

The two institutions that have cost-transfer policies (Smith College and Hamilton College) also have a form that must be filled out in order to request a cost transfer.

Overview of Elements

This table provides an overview of the various elements and how the different institutions handle that element. It also tries to show commonalities among institutions that handle an element in similar ways or with similar language.
