CLASP (College of Liberal Arts-Sponsored Programs) was formed in 1996 as an informal discussion group for liberal arts college employees whose responsibilities include aiding faculty in the search for and management of external funding support.

CLASP currently has 315 subscribers representing 174 institutions. CLASP membership within individual institutions is diverse with members located in various offices including foundation and corporate relations, provost, dean of faculty, controller/treasurer and other administrative and academic units. Members are responsible for some or all "sponsored research" management activities at their institutions.

CLASP is primarily focused on issues relative to small liberal arts institutions, although the same issues may also be faced by larger research universities. Our purpose is to provide a resource for sponsored research administrators at liberal arts colleges that will promote and strengthen our members' ability to respond to research support and policy issues as they arise.
